Setting up the Board: Each player starts with 15 checkers of their color, arranged on the board in a specific way.
The Objective: The goal is to move all your checkers to your home board and then bear them off. The first player to do so wins!
Movement: Players take turns rolling two dice and moving their checkers according to the numbers. The dice can be used for separate moves or combined for a single move.
Legal Moves: Checkers can only move to open points or points occupied by your own checkers. You can’t land on a point with two or more of your opponent’s checkers, or you’ll get “hit” and have to re-enter the game.
Hitting and Entering: If you land on a blot, you’ll hit it and place it on the bar. Then, you’ll enter the checker back into your opponent’s home board before making any other moves.
Bearing Off: Once you’ve moved all your checkers to your home board, you can start bearing them off by rolling the correct number and removing the checker from the board.
Winning the Game: The first player to bear off all their checkers wins! If your opponent hasn’t borne off any checkers and still has pieces on the bar or in their home board, you score a gammon (double points) or backgammon (triple points).
